The Nottingham Post Sports Awards has been championing equality in sport for many years with the event being an extremely inclusive platform for individuals of all ages, abilities and genders, to be celebrated for their achievements.
From best amateur sportsman and best professional female to disabled sportsperson of the year awards on offer, there are opportunities for anyone who has demonstrated great strength and determination in their respective sports to be in with a chance of winning.
On the evening of Thursday 25 October winners will be presented their awards by their category’s sponsor. A new addition to the fantastic line-up of sponsors already on board with the awards is Bassingfield Woodyard.
Bassingfield Woodyard are a leading timber supplier in Nottingham offering a wide range of products from decking timber and fencing panels, to sheet materials and timber fixings.
This is the first year in which the company have supported the event and have placed their focus on praising the successes of disabled athletes. The category is open to disabled sportspeople of any age, gender or skill level and the eventual winner will have showcased an outstanding level of personal achievement.
The Bassingfield Woodyard team commented:
“We chose to get behind this category because we want to help broaden the opportunities disabled athletes have in the world of sport. There are so many more doors now open for disabled people thanks to advancements in technology and globally televised events such as the Invictus Games and the Paralympics. We believe continuing to motivate and encourage inclusion in sport is crucial in nurturing the next generation of disabled sportspeople.”
It may be their debut year for sponsoring the Nottingham Post Sports Awards, but it’s not the first time Bassingfield Woodyard have been a supporter of the wider sporting community of Nottingham.
The team explained their other sporting involvements:
“Last season we were front of shirt sponsors at Notts County FC for the month of March and also for the play-offs V Coventry. We have continued this partnership for the 2018/19 Season. Furthermore, we have a Partnership in place at Trent Bridge that sees us sponsor their Hover Cover for all Nottingham County Cricket matches, T20 and International Fixtures.”
