The De Vere East Midlands Conference Centre and Orchard Hotel is the latest name to be extending its sponsorship to the Nottingham Post Sports Awards.

The annual event, which returns on Thursday 31 October, is widely hailed as one of the region’s most rewarding sporting ceremonies for its commitment to praising individuals and teams who are making a positive impact on the local sporting community.

This year though, De Vere East Midlands Conference Centre and Orchard Hotel is looking beyond those in the spotlight through their sponsorship showing support to the hard workers behind the scenes.

Understanding that nobody does more away from the limelight than those that volunteer their own time to aid the running of sporting functions and meets, the sponsors are proudly backing the Volunteer of the Year award.

“There are so many people in Nottingham helping the sporting community in all sorts of remarkable ways,” said General Manager Tom Waldron-Lynch.

“We want to celebrate the achievements of volunteers who dedicate their time to helping others succeed within their own sporting goals.

“The Nottingham Post Sports Awards are a great way to showcase the great things that these people and groups do.”

The category is currently open for applications and welcomes entries from those that believe the work they do plays a crucial role in furthering the success of sporting events. When it comes to the winner, Mr Waldron-Lynch has a clear individual or team in mind.

“A proper mindset, showing compassion, composure and mental strength are key to succeeding. Most importantly, passion and a love for the sport,” he added.

“We’re not simply looking for how long someone has been volunteering; they might have only been volunteering for a short time but have made a big impact. Our focus is on the impression they have made in the past 12 months.”

Nominations for this category, and the other 14 on offer will remain open until Friday 23 August during which time anyone can enter themselves or on behalf of someone else.

There is however a limited number of categories still available for sponsorship, so if you want to be part of this year’s team of sponsors contact Bethany White at Champions (UK) plc on 01509 85 29 27 or email bwhite@championsukplc.com
